          I certify that said gun was lost in this way, as he says, said
          Combs directly after being mustered into service was made
          Corporal of the Gaurd for the first time and without, as he
          alleges, having received any instructions about the gun.  When
          called out of the gaurd house for a short time he placed his gun
          in the gaurd house, from whence it was stolen during his absence,
          and he asks that said amount of $15 be refunded him.

          he drew pay in Richmond from Capt. John Maynard (unreadable),
          C.S. Army for the months of July and August 1862.  Bounty $50.
          Charged with Enfield Rifle lost $50, Accoutrements $3.50.

Remarks:  Deserted 5 Sept 1862 and joined General Imboden's Command.
          Was arrested and brought to Brigade under gaurd about 1 May 1863.
          Charges prepared against him for desertion, losing arms to the
          amount of $53.50, and improperly drawing $50 bounty.  Was kept
          in confinement until 10 June 1863, when he was placed on duty
          with his company without withdrawing the charges against him.
